GarageLog Privacy Policy

In short: GarageLog stores everything you enter — cars, service history, parts, photos, notes — only on your own device. There is no account, no server, and no cloud connection. We don’t collect it, we don’t see it, and we have nothing to sell, because it never leaves your phone.
1. Who this policy covers
This policy applies to the GarageLog app for iOS and Android, published by workingonit.dk (“we,” “us”). It explains what happens to information when you use the app. It does not cover third-party websites or services you may reach by following a link out of the app (for example, a supplier’s website you save against a part).
2. What data GarageLog collects
None, by us. GarageLog has no account system, no backend server, and makes no network requests to send your data anywhere. Everything you enter — car profiles, service jobs, parts, photos, receipts, notes, reminders, checklists — is written to a local database and local file storage on your device only. We do not receive a copy of it, in any form, at any time.
This version of GarageLog also does not include:
- Any analytics or usage-tracking SDK
- Any crash-reporting SDK
- Any advertising SDK
- Any user account, login, or sign-in
3. Permissions the app requests, and why

You can decline either permission; the features that use it simply won’t be available, and the rest of the app works normally.
4. On-device scanning and text recognition
GarageLog uses on-device barcode scanning and on-device text recognition (to help fill in a part’s name or number from a label). Both run locally using the device’s own machine-learning frameworks. No photo, scan, or recognized text is sent to us, to Apple, to Google, or to any other server as part of this feature — recognition happens on your phone and the result is written straight into GarageLog’s local database.
5. Backups, exports, and sharing
GarageLog can create a local backup file of your whole garage, or export a single car’s history, entirely at your request. That file is written to your device. If you then choose to share it — by AirDrop, email, a cloud storage app, or any other method — that sharing is your own action using your device’s normal share sheet, and from that point the file is subject to wherever you sent it, not to GarageLog. We have no visibility into whether, when, or where you choose to share an export.
6. Data retention and deletion
Your data stays on your device for as long as you keep the app installed. Deleting the app deletes its local database and files. If your device’s operating system includes app data in its own device backup (for example, an iCloud or Google account backup you’ve enabled at the OS level), that backup is created and controlled by Apple or Google under their own privacy terms — GarageLog itself does not create or manage any such backup.
Because we never receive your data in the first place, there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf — deleting the app (or the individual entries within it) is the complete and immediate deletion of your data.
7. Children’s privacy
GarageLog is not directed at children and is not designed to collect information from anyone. Since the app does not collect data from any user, this applies equally to users of any age.
8. Your rights
Because all data stays on your own device and we never hold a copy, the usual rights to access, export, correct, or delete your data are already fully in your hands, at all times, through the app itself — there is no separate request process, because there is no separate copy for us to act on.
9. Changes to this policy
If GarageLog’s data practices change in a future version — for example, if an optional cloud backup feature is introduced — we will update this policy before that feature is released, and the app will describe the change and ask for your choice at the time, rather than silently changing behavior.
