GarageLog started as a decade-plus of handwritten notes and Excel rows — every oil change, every part number, every “remember to check this next time” for two Land Rover Defenders. It’s now an app, but it never stopped being that: a proper log for people who fix their own cars.

Why we built it

Every workshop-management app we tried wanted an account, a cloud subscription, and a data connection our garage doesn’t have. What we actually needed was simpler and harder to find: a place to write down what we did, when, at what mileage, with which part — and to trust that it would still be there, on our own phone, without a login screen or a monthly bill.

So we built that instead. GarageLog keeps a full service history per car, a shared parts shelf across your garage, checklists for the jobs you do every few thousand kilometers, and a running list for “get to it eventually.” All of it lives on your device. None of it needs the internet to work.

GarageLog is for the person who already changes their own oil, bleeds their own brakes, and knows which torque spec matters and which one is a guess. Whether that’s a daily runabout or a long-term restoration — a Defender, a Series Land Rover, or anything else you’ve decided to keep alive yourself — this is built for the way that work actually gets logged: on the spot, in the garage, without waiting for a page to load.

What’s next

GarageLog is under active development. The core — service history, parts, projects, reminders, and a local backup you control — is here today. Reusable service checklists, spec sheets, and multi-supplier part comparisons are rolling out as part of an optional one-time upgrade, with more on the way based on what people building and fixing their own cars actually ask for next.
